The Source rip-off
Some 3+ years ago I purchased a cordless telephone from Costco with three handsets. This year I had the battery in one of the handsets fail, so off I go to The Source for a replacement battery. At first he couldn't find an exact replacement but had one that would fit but with a different mAh rating; then he spotted an exact replacement - the same as my old battery in every way, including the colour - green. I bought this battery at a cost of some $26. If two more batteries fail it will be cheaper to buy a new set of phones. He tried to sell me a 3-year replacement warranty but I declined, and home I went to charge it. Three days later it said it was fully charged but it would then die before I could even finish dialing a call. Hmmm, bad battery or bad phone/charger? Switch batteries with another phone, charge for another three days. The problem followed the battery.
Back to The Source for a exchange or refund. I still have the receipt but no packaging. Oh no, they don't sell batteries like that! All of their batteries are black. They couldn't have sold me that battery - it's green. No exchange, no refund. Apparently the customer is not always right. So now I have no battery and I'm out $26. I'll never shop at The Source again, but I don't imagine that they care.
